Namaste,
I am Usha Tiwari,
President, Udaan Seva Sansthan,
Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Having witnessed the suffering and oppression of women—how they are forced to depend on their husbands or others for even the smallest of needs—and how many families are trapped in substance abuse with no access to education, healthcare, or awareness, I was deeply moved.
With this concern, I founded Udaan Seva Sansthan in 2017, with the vision that every woman should have the wings to fly towards her dreams, and that every daughter should have the opportunity to create her own identity.
Our organization primarily works in the slum areas of Kanpur city. We have identified localities where people live in extreme poverty, are destitute, uneducated, and trapped in addiction. Our goal is to bring a change in both their condition and direction.
To empower women, we have set up training centers in these communities. We offer vocational courses such as beautician training, tailoring, and handicrafts. So far, we have trained over 2,000 women, out of which 500 women have successfully started their own businesses.
We also run health awareness programs for women. For children deprived of education, we have launched informal learning centers, known as “Masti Ki Pathshala” (Fun School), to spark interest in education and connect them to regular schools.
My Message:
Creating a better society is not just the responsibility of the government – it is our collective responsibility. Let us come together and build a society where every woman is empowered, every child is educated, and every elder is safe and cared for.
Thank you.
